About Me

I’m Lea Travels (obviously not my real last name, but describes one of my passions in life). This is my first attempt at creating a blog, so please forgive me for the basic site (I have no clue about web page design) or for any writing faux pas (I’m not a professional writer). My hope is to entertain you with my travels and provide some tips in attaining your travel goals for less, or almost free, using miles and points.

The “rock” I live on is the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Living in paradise is amazing, don’t get me wrong. The weather is nearly perfect and I live in a melting pot of differing cultures, languages, religions and foods. Although I love home, I often have the desire of getting off the rock and exploring the world.

The seven husbands are, Neil Nitin Mukesh, John Abraham, Irrfan Khan, Aleksandr Dyachenko, Annu Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah and…surprise surprise, order viagra online who is the seventh husband? I’m a huge sports fan and enjoy attending sporting events. I love the NFL! I’ve seen the Giants, Cowboys, Saints, Bears, Seahawks, Cardinals, and most importantly Packers (Go Pack Go!) play at their respective stadiums. While traveling, I try to watch other sports as well, like basketball, hockey or baseball. I’m still trying to attend my first soccer (aka football) match, maybe a World Cup one day. I also enjoy tennis and have been to Wimbledon twice.

I have a full-time job working as a paper-pusher, shuffling paper from one pile to another. At least that’s what I tell people when I’m asked what I do in my office. I’m not a “road warrior” who travels for work and can stockpile airline miles or hotel points, nor do I have a huge paycheck that would allow me to take aspirational vacations all the time. That’s why earning miles and points have been essential to achieving my travel goals.

I found your page by accident searching about Hawaii but glad I did. I’m planning a trip this summer. Congratulations on your launch.

I have a question about an email I received from United about selling my holiday gift cards for miles. Do you think that is worth doing? I can forward you the email if that will help. I was also wondering if buying miles is a good idea. I have another email about a bonus 50% if I purchase United. Thanks.

      Hi Dane,

I hope your trip to Hawaii is amazing. Let me know if you have any questions about the isles.

As for gift cards, I think I know what program you’re referring to. I don’t suggest doing the exchange because the value received is not the best (spending 2-3 cents per mile, which is high). However, if you are not going to use the gift card at all and can’t re-gift to someone else, then go ahead and do it.

As for buying miles, I personally don’t do that because the cost per mile is pretty high and I’d rather get free miles by utilizing all the programs I mention on my blog. The only thing that would make sense is if you have a First Class/Business Class fare in mind and the miles purchased is less than the fare itself (for example, if the ticket cost $3,000 and the miles to redeem for that ticket is $2,000, you’d save $1,000). You’d have to do the math to make sure you come out ahead. I personally wouldn’t spend that much on a ticket, so it’s not something I would cover on my blog.

      Thanks for visiting!

Thanks for answering my question on the other blog. I think your new blog is good and more Hawaii centric that the other blog couldn’t answer. Keep it up.
